Therapeutic Modalities

As a therapist, my number one priority is finding what works for my clients. With that comes matching therapeutic modalities to their unique set of concerns, rather than the other way around. I try to make the perfect recipe combining elements from various modalities to ensure my clients will see the most progress during their journey.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a versatile and effective approach for treating issues like anxiety, depression, stress, and phobias. In CBT sessions, you'll work with me to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviours, replacing them with positive ones.

For example, if you have anxiety, you might use thought records to track anxious thoughts and test them against reality. Behavioral experiments and exposure exercises help you gradually face fears in real-life situations. Practical tools like worksheets, journals, relaxation techniques, and enjoyable activities are often used to support your progress.

CBT is a collaborative and  empowering therapy that equips you with the skills to manage your challenges and lead a more fulfilling life.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a positive and goal-oriented approach perfect for addressing issues like anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and stress. SFBT emphasizes finding solutions and building on your strengths rather than focusing on problems.

In sessions, we will explore what's already working in your life and set small, achievable goals. You'll use tools like the "miracle question" to envision your ideal future and scaling questions (0-10) to measure progress and identify steps toward your goals.

By highlighting past successes and resources, SFBT empowers you to create practical solutions quickly. This collaborative therapy focuses on your strengths and future, helping you achieve meaningful change in a short amount of time.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a compassionate and effective approach for addressing relationship conflicts, emotional disconnection, anxiety, and depression. EFT focuses on improving emotional bonds and attachment, helping you connect more deeply with loved ones and yourself.

In sessions, we will identify emotional patterns and explore past and present experiences to understand the roots of emotional struggles. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for you to express and process emotions openly.

Interventions include techniques like role-playing and description, which help you practice new ways of relating and communicating. By reprocessing emotional experiences and developing emotionally responsive tools, EFT strengthens your emotional connection from the inside out.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) is a calming and harmonizing approach for treating issues like anxiety, depression, stress, emotional disregulation and chronic pain. MBT emphasizes being present in the moment, which helps you manage difficult thoughts and emotions more effectively.

In sessions, we will practice mindfulness exercises such as breathing techniques, body scans, and guided meditations. These practices help you develop awareness and acceptance of your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Tools like mindfulness meditation, mindful movement, and daily mindfulness practices are integrated into your routine to enhance self-awareness and reduce stress. By focusing on the present moment, you learn to respond to challenges with greater calm and clarity.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a warm and empowering approach for addressing issues like anxiety, self-esteem issues, family issues, depression, stress, and chronic pain. ACT focuses on accepting your thoughts and feelings while committing to actions that align with your values.

In sessions, we will work on accepting difficult emotions rather than fighting them. You'll use mindfulness techniques to stay present and exercises to clarify your values. This helps you take meaningful steps toward a fulfilling life.

Interventions include mindfulness practices, values clarification, and commitment strategies. Tools like the "control vs no control" example help you visualize what is within your control and what is outside your control and thus, build acceptance of what you cannot control.

Strength-Based Therapy draws on empowerment and connecting with yourself to help with issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Instead of focusing on problems, this therapy highlights your existing strengths and resources to overcome challenges.

In sessions, we will explore your personal strengths, skills, and past successes. Together, you’ll identify how these strengths can be applied to current struggles and set realistic, strength-based goals.

Tools like strength assessments, resilience-building exercises, and solution-focused discussions help you leverage your inherent abilities. By building on what you already do well, you’ll enhance your confidence and ability to tackle issues effectively.
